Part-Time Visual Designer

We're a small team and our visual output needs to be consistent and considered. We're not looking for a specific background — illustration, graphic design, photography, sketchbooks, 3D — what matters is whether you have an eye and can turn it toward what we're making.

Abstract 3D modeling

The Role

The role is part-time and flexible. You'll review work in progress, contribute to visual direction, and produce assets as needed. The work spans different contexts — interfaces, marketing materials, spatial environments — but you don't need experience across all of them. We're looking for sensibility, not a complete skillset.

You'll work alongside the team in a way that fits around your studies — hours are flexible and there's no expectation of full availability. We'll give you clear direction on what's needed and you'll have support when you're figuring things out.

Why Kodai

Polish and technical depth

We make things that hold up when you look closer. The work is detailed and iterative — visual and technical in equal measure, not one at the expense of the other.

AI as a tool, not a decider

AI is a tool here, not a decider. The calls that require judgement stay with the team. The instinct to notice when something is off and care enough to fix it — that's what we hire for.

Requirements

  • 01

    Eye for composition & space

You can look at a sketch, a layout, a render, or a photo and find yourself mentally adjusting it before you've consciously noticed anything. Proportion, contrast, weight — you know when it's off, and you want to fix it.

  • 02

    Work you can show us

We care about what you've made, not what job title it came from. Drawings, design work, photography, personal projects — anything that reflects how you think visually.

  • 03

    Some software experience helps

Figma, Illustrator, Blender, or similar — any of these is useful context. If you don't have them yet, that's not a dealbreaker; we'll work around it or get you there.

  • 04

    Can explain your thinking

You can say what you were going for and why — doesn't need to be formal or detailed, just enough that we're on the same page without a back-and-forth.
