Trial Task
01 Context
The letter [A] in our logo is a character — a bird, beak facing right, with a red accent on its face. Something like a robin.
We're exploring bringing this bird to life on our website. It might flutter around, follow the cursor, perch on elements, react to scrolling — or something else entirely. The technical implementation is a separate problem. Right now, we need to figure out how it looks and feels.
02 The Task
Explore how the Kodai bird could exist as a character — on the website, in motion, as an illustration, as a 3D Model, however you interpret it.
We're not looking for finished assets. We're looking for visual thinking.
03 Submission
Whatever format shows your thinking best. Sketches, renders, a moodboard, stills, motion studies, a Figma file, a Blender viewport capture, a collage — the medium is yours to choose.
Note Requirement
Include a short note (a few sentences) explaining your direction. We care about the eye behind it, not the tool.
04 Criteria
Sensibility.
Does the bird feel like it belongs to Kodai? Does it have character?
Did you consider how it might exist alongside a website, not just in isolation?
The written note doesn't need to be an essay — just tell us why you went the direction you did.
05 Logistics
Send your work to the email address provided in your initial contact. Any common format is fine — PDF, PNG, ZIP, a Figma link, .blend, .fbx, whatever works.
We don't expect project-specific work for free.
